"In Milan, they'd say taches al tram: grab onto the tram. Go if you want. Put on your helmet, your jacket, your rifle, and go to Ukraine." These were Minister Salvini's words when asked by a journalist what he thought of Macron's proposal for a European army to be sent to Ukraine.
"I think Trump, with his sometimes seeming brusque or unconventional ways, is succeeding where everyone else has failed: bringing Putin and Zelensky back to the table," Salvini said on the sidelines of a visit to Via Bolla in Milan. "Something that hasn't happened in years, then it will be up to them to choose where they will meet. European armies, European rearmament, common European debts to buy missiles, or various 'macro-narratives' are certainly out of date."
"You put on your helmet, your jacket, your rifle and you go to Ukraine," Salvini said, commenting on France's idea of sending troops to the ground.
